A Thankful Tuesday

November 6, 2007: I am thankful that God's provision allows my family to sponsor a little girl through Compassion International. That in her sweet six year old way she covets our prayers, asking us in her last letter to "pray for God to touch her daddy." That her family seems to be safe from the flooding and devastation in Mexico. That my family is safe, warm and dry. That our faithful God provided a job for a faithful Daughter. That my education was put to good use at work today. For a husband that will honestly critique my writing without making me feel bad :-/ And I'm thankful that my mother-in-law made us homemade apple pie today :-)

  1. We sponsor a child through Compassion also. He is now 15 and we have sponsored him for.... I don't know... many, many years. He lives in Rwanda and told us recently that his country was remembering the genocide which happened when he was a baby. How very sad to grow up in a place like that.

  2. I agree that it's sad to grow up in poverty, regardless of what it looks like - genocide, natural disaster, etc. But having traveled to Rwanda last year and then Kenya earlier this year, I can say that the joy these children and families have, despite their circumstances, is amazing. The brutality of their situations is a canvas ripe for God's mercy and it is beautiful.

So, what do you have to say?
